Animatic

When uploading my animatic video to YouTube I was worried that I'd breached a copyright order and therefore was't able to upload my video with sound. I knew that I need the sound and therefore decided to email UMG (Universal Music Group) to ask for permission to use the song. The email goes as follows:

'Dear UMG (Universal Music Group)

I am a student at Wyke Sixth Form College in England. I am a student who would like to use the song ‘Skyscraper’ by Demi Lovato for a media project. I have recently uploaded an animatic video to YouTube but the song was blocked due to copyright issues, however I have stated that I do not intend to use the song to make profit and I have highlighted that the song is by Demi Lovato.

As stated I do not intend to use the track for personal financial gain; however I really would like to use the track for my project without breaking copyright regulations. If possible could the company grant my access to use the song on YouTube for my work? I would highly appreciate the company for doing so.

Thank you, Jasmine Davies. '

I have received a response from Universal stating that they no longer have the right to grant me the license to the track. The email goes as follows:

I have tried resolving this issue by downloading another version of this song but the lyrics in the song didn't match with the images of the animatic and therefore it didn't flow well. I couldn't cut the song or move the song along is it also didn't match with the images on screen.

I have decided to upload my animatic without the music.
